Hyaluronic Acid Injections in Montreal

As we age, the fat, muscles, bones, and skin of our face begin to thin. This loss of volume leads to either a sunken appearance or sagging of the face.

Hyaluronic Acid (Juvederm, Restylane, etc.) is a clear, long-lasting gel used to plump lips and fill in wrinkles and folds on the face.

What do hyaluronic acid injections consist of?

Hyaluronic acid is a filler that is identical to what is naturally present in our skin.

Once injected, the product works together with the body’s own hyaluronic acid to create volume. Unlike permanent implants, when its effects have dissipated, you are free to repeat or choose another form of treatment.

Hyaluronic acid is injected into the dermis to create volume where the body’s hyaluronic acid concentration is decreased. A treatment lasts about 30 minutes. The results are immediately visible, and the treatment leaves no scars or marks. Although the treated area may swell or redden for a day, it is entirely possible to socialize with friends and work normally.

Hyaluronic acid is not extracted from animals. Therefore, there is no risk of allergic reaction.

Details on the procedure for hyaluronic acid injection treatments:

Are the injections painful?

The product is injected directly under the skin in small quantities using an ultrafine needle, which causes minimal discomfort. The procedure is straightforward, and the results are almost instant. To optimize comfort during this brief procedure, the doctor may numb the treatment area.

What is the longevity of Hyaluronic Acid?

The duration is highly individual and depends on factors such as skin structure, lifestyle, age, and the individual’s desired level of perfection. However, we know that after six months, in the majority of treated patients, the effects are still noticeable at 50 to 80%. Most will choose to have a touch-up within a year of the initial treatment.

Unlike invasive surgeries or permanent or semi-permanent products, hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers are temporary and reversible, and they are absorbed by the body over time. The safety and tolerability of hyaluronic acid-based products have been demonstrated.
