Liposuction in Montreal
Liposuction aims to refine the body and silhouette. This procedure involves reshaping the body by permanently removing fatty deposits responsible for an unappealing figure.
What is Liposuction?
The Purpose of Liposuction:
The purpose of liposuction is to refine the body and silhouette. This procedure involves reshaping the body by permanently removing excess fat that is responsible for an unattractive figure.
It involves removing fat from localized areas with strategically placed 2-3mm incisions.
Demystifying Liposuction:
Contrary to popular belief, liposuction is not a solution for weight loss and cannot sculpt any area of the body. It also does not firm the skin, but the procedure can be combined with RENUVION and offered to suitable candidates.
The Most Commonly Treated Areas are:
The flanks, love handles, and abdomen. Certain areas may also be treated in certain patients with good evaluation from the physician, including the arms, back, inner thighs and knees, and neck.
Areas that are more risky and less recommended are the complete thighs and legs, as the results are less predictable and the risks are higher.
Procedure of Liposuction Intervention by Dr. Eric Bensimon
Liposuction is performed under local anesthesia with or without sedation or under conventional general anesthesia and does not require hospitalization. The duration of the procedure depends on the extent of the areas to be treated.

Consultation
Before Liposuction:
An initial free photo evaluation is done first. This helps determine if an in-person consultation is necessary.
A consultation with Dr. Bensimon will then be scheduled as it will determine if you are a good candidate and the areas to be treated.
It’s best to finish any weight loss program before considering liposuction.

The Surgery
The day of the procedure:
- Photos and marks are made on the areas to be treated.
- Local anesthesia is then administered. This allows for very small incisions of just a few millimeters to introduce a thin liposuction cannula. This will then diffuse a solution that will have the effect of more effectively anesthetizing the area to be treated, softening the fats to make them easier to aspirate. This solution greatly helps minimize bleeding and therefore reduce bruising in the postoperative period. This is tumescent liposuction.
- Very thin cannulas will then be used to perform the liposuction. They allow for a more uniform result.
- We use the PAL (Power Assisted Liposuction) technique for greater precision.

After the Surgery
After Liposuction:
- Wearing a compressive garment is recommended for 3-4 weeks after liposuction, with final results visible in three to six months.
- Recovery time is typically a few days.
- Following liposuction, it is recommended to massage the treated area to reduce swelling. Massages should start light and become more vigorous over time.
- Small incisions will fade and become barely visible over time.

FAQ
The body produces a fixed number of fat cells during puberty. After this stage, the body no longer produces them. Fat cells eliminated by liposuction will never be replaced. Therefore, weight gain after liposuction will have less of an impact on changing your silhouette than if you had not had liposuction. Only the remaining fat cells can then hypertrophy if you gain weight.
